calcium score

syngo

syngo Calcium Scoring is an evaluation software used for quantifying calcified coronary lesions. The data is based on low dose (less than 1-2 mSv) acquisition with either ECG triggered sequence or retrospectively gated spiral scans. Multiple studies with conventional subsecond CT scanners have shown that the Calcium Scoring results can be used to closely follow changes in coronary calcium load.

WHAT I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY CALCIUM SCORE…

CT FORMS

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

For a calcium score test, it’s best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing without any metal. Avoid shirts, bras, or jackets with zippers, snaps, or underwire, since metal can interfere with the CT imaging. You’ll usually be asked to change into a scrubs, but wearing simple, metal-free clothing makes the process easier. Remove necklaces, piercings, watches, and anything else metallic before the scan. Flat shoes and casual attire are ideal, as you’ll be lying on a table for a short period while the images are taken.

What are the benefits of a calcium score?

A calcium score test offers valuable insight into your heart health by measuring the amount of calcified plaque in your coronary arteries. One of its biggest benefits is that it can detect early signs of coronary artery disease before symptoms appear, allowing for more proactive prevention. The score helps doctors more accurately assess your risk of heart attack and tailor treatment plans, such as recommending lifestyle changes, medications, or closer monitoring. It’s a quick, noninvasive scan that provides clear, actionable information, empowering both you and your healthcare provider to make informed decisions about protecting your long-term cardiovascular health.

WHAT IS THE PREPERATION FOR THE CALCIUM SCORE

Patients preparing for a calcium score test should avoid all caffeine for at least four hours before the exam, as caffeine can temporarily increase heart rate and potentially affect imaging quality. Aside from this restriction, they may eat and drink as they normally would, and no additional fasting is required. This helps ensure the most accurate results while keeping the preparation simple and comfortable.
